Most illegal drugs such as cocaine, heroin and various forms of amphetamine, affect the central nervous system and heart function. These drugs can have adverse cardiovascular effects, ranging from abnormal heart rate, heart attacks or even sudden cardiac death. Injection of these illegal drugs also can lead to cardiovascular diseases, such as collapsed veins and bacterial infections of the heart valves and blood vessels. Cocaine – the “perfect heart attack drug”, Researchers found that roughly 9 percent of those peoples who died of cardiac arrest had recently consumed cocaine. It’s the major risk factor of sudden cardiac arrest and heart attack. 

An overdose of any cardiac mediation or using illegal drugs such as amphetamines could cause cardiac arrest.

One possible cause reported by celebrity website TMZ.com is that pop music icon Michael Jacson was injected with the potent painkiller Demerol before he went into cardiac arrest.

Alcohol and other related beverages forget the body to breathe normally which is detrimental to the heart and sometimes cause major cardiac arrest.
