01/12Do you know?

Did you have too much fatty and oily food? Cholesterol is a fatty acid which is produced in the liver and helps in performing many body functions. However, lack of balance in the cholesterol level can turn out to be harmful for our body. Higher levels of cholesterol in the blood can lead to the blockage of arteries and cause heart attack. Increase in cholesterol levels is mainly caused by greasy food and sedentary lifestyle.

While most of us are health conscious these days and avoid fatty or oily food, there are times, particularly during parties, while eating out or on weekends, we cannot avoid greasy food. According to research, having even one fatty and oily meal is capable of spiking cholesterol levels in the body. So, here is what to do after having too much fatty and oily food to keep your cholesterol levels in check.

02/12Drink warm or lukewarm water

Drinking lukewarm water after having oily food helps in nullifying the adverse effects of oily food. One to two glasses of warm water will help in cleansing the intestines and protect them from damage.

03/12Avoid eating and drinking anything cold

It is recommended to not eat or drink cold food items after you have taken high fat food. The reason is, oil will solidify and the intestines will find it difficult to digest it.

04/12Exercise

After having a heavy meal, do physical activities like walking, going up and down the stairs, or just strolling while listening to music. This will not just burn the calories but will also massage the liver and the intestines and enable them to function better.

05/12Do not go straight to bed

Never go straight to bed after having a heavy meal. Give a gap of at least 2 hours between the time you eat and the time you go to bed. This will give time to the body to digest food and will not directly store it in the form of fats.

06/12Honey

Honey is one of the best antidotes for oily and greasy foods. Mix one teaspoon of it in a glass of warm water and add two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in it. Drink it after heavy meals.

07/12Triphala

Mix a tablespoon of Triphala powder in a glass of warm water. This remedy will help in reducing the adverse effects of oily foods.

08/12Long pepper

Consume two pinches of long pepper powder with warm water along with honey twice a day for three to four days.
